talks. the obama administration and opposition republicans remain at odds over how to avert the falling off the fiscal cliff. let's take a look at currency markets. the dollar is also little change against the yen as u.s. budget talks continue. dollar/yen is in the upper 81 levels, 81.88 to 90. the euro, that is higher against the yen, 107.27 to 30 at the moment. worries are reseeding over eurozone debts. let's take a look at other markets in the apple open. kospi is trading flat on the day, 1,934. looking at australia, the benchmark index is trading higher by 1/10 of a percent, 4,508. modest moves so far this morning in the asia pacific. >>> japan and india launched a new framework to provide bilateral credit in u.s. dollars. the aim is to ease the impact of possible turmoil in the global financial markets on asia. the two countries worked out the details on tuesday. japan's prime minister and his indian counterpart had signed the currency agreement a year ago. under the framework both countries will be able to exchange up to $15 billion over the next three years. the two countries had

employment data after president barack obama was re-elected. the unemployment rate last month fell to 7.7% from 7.9% in october. the jobless rate has now been below 8% for three straight months. u.s. employers added 146,000 jobs in the nonfarm sector such as retail trade, professional, and business services and health care. that's more than economists had forecast. u.s. employers added 138,000 jobs in october. the officials of the labor department say hurricane sandy, which shook the country's east coast in late october, did not substantively impact the national unemployment estimates for november. >>> a legal battle between two smartphone giants, apple of the united states and samsung of south korea, rages on. the california federal district court has reopened the case over smartphone and other patents. the court has resumed a hearing before handing down its final ruling. back in august, a jury ordered samsung to pay more than $1 billion to damages in apple. now samsung is seeking to overturn that verdict. in thursday's session the judge urged the two sides to reach a settlement on a g

president obama enters his second term, officials in pyongyang want the americans to recognize their challenge such as the middle east and afghanistan. another reason it's related to south korea's presidential election scheduled on december 19th. the north koreans hope that the new government will return. they have criticized the conservative candidate for her stance on relations. the missile launch can be seen as a way of pushing the south koreans towards the hard line. >> i see. china is a longtime ally of north korea. how do you see its role? >> i believe china can greatly influence the united nations' reaction. after the previous launch in april, the united nations issued a statement of condemnation. the day before the north's announcement of this launch by its chairman of china's national peoples congress to meet with kim jong-un. the launch announcement the following day caused the chinese to lose face. this time they have strongly urged restraint. also, i think it is important to closely watch how they react. >> thanks very much, hiroki. >>> security analysts in the u.s.
